The conference marked forty years of fruitful, fascinating and influential activity – both in Jerusalem and beyond. The conference reflected the diverse range of studies conducted by the Jerusalem Institute and the quality of its relations with the leading policymakers in the Israeli capital and the Israeli government.
Some of the speakers at the event included: Mayor Moshe Leon, who appeared in his first public interview since his entry into the municipality alongside Netali Shem Tov; the Minister of Jerusalem Zeev Elkin, who explained the mistakes that led to the neglect of East Jerusalem; the Mayor of Beit Shemesh, Dr. Aliza Bloch, who presented her election story to the Beit Shemesh Municipality in a conversation with Ofer Hadad; and the Finance Ministry’s budget director, Shaul Meridor, who discussed the budgetary distress of Jerusalem in a conversation with Dan Halpern.
