Dr. Sarit Bensimhon-Peleg joined the Institute in 2018 as Deputy Head of Research. Prior to this, she worked at the Van Leer Institute in Jerusalem as a researcher and head of a governance program in the Unit for the Development of Integrated Governance Models. Sarit led the development of new projects at the Center for Citizen Empowerment and served as a consultant for cross-sector cooperative processes. Sarit was in charge of measurement and evaluation at Yad Hanadiv, between 2014 and 2016. Sarit was the director of the Harold Hartog School of Government and Policy at Tel Aviv University, where she developed the Interface program for the implementation of science in administration. Sarit is one of the founders of the Shacharit Think Tank, a member of the board of directors of the Social Economic Academy, a member of the Academic Committee of the Shalem Foundation (which focuses on the development of services for people with intellectual-developmental disabilities), and a singer in the “Beyond Voice” Choir, which is an integrated choir of singers with developmental-developmental disabilities and people from the wider community.
Sarit has a BA in political science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a Ph.D. in political science from Oxford University in England. Her dissertation deals with the question of the justification of universal human rights in a multicultural world. She is a graduate of the Fellowship Program of the Heschel Center for Environmental Leadership and a researcher in the areas of policy, governance and participatory democracy, philanthropy, and the third sector.
